Delhi government seeks legal opinion on tussle with LG

New Delhi, May 19 (IANS): The Delhi government on Tuesday sought legal opinion from two senior lawyers - Indira Jaising and Rajeev Dhawan - on the transfer and posting of bureaucrats.

The issue has snow-balled into a full-blown war between Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

The tussle between Kejriwal and Jung, which started over the appointment of senior bureaucrat Shakuntala Gamlin as the acting chief secretary, escalated into a situation where another bureaucrat, principal secretary (Services) Anindo Majumdar, was locked out of his office at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday.

This was reportedly done on the orders of Kejriwal as Majumder had followed the LG's orders to appoint Gamlin as the acting chief secretary.
