Six killed in US drone strike in Pakistan

Islamabad, May 19 (IANS): At least six people were killed and two injured in a US drone strike launched in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region of North Waziristan on Monday night, media reports said.

A US unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at a compound in Zoye Narye area of Shawal valley of North Waziristan, Pakistan's restive tribal region bordering Afghanistan, Pakistan's leading daily Dawn reported.

The strike completely destroyed the compound. Local residents pulled out the bodies and injured from the debris of the collapsed building, according to Xinhua news agency.

On Saturday, a US drone attacked a house in the same valley that killed at least five people and left two others injured.

Pakistan had strongly condemned the strike. "We condemn such strikes which are a clear violation of Pakistan's sovereignty and territorial integrity," a foreign ministry statement said.
