Bhubaneswar, May 18 (IANS): A group of 20 students from Odisha recently explored various aspects of operations of the Space Applications Centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Gujarat Science City in Ahmedabad.

Selected through the Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS) programme, a signature event of Tata Steel, the students visited ISRO and the Science City during the week-long trip which was flagged off by Odisha chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati on May 8.

Aimed at inspiring the students selected through the YATS programme, the visit was organised by Tata Steel in collaboration with Pathani Samant Planetarium, Bhubaneswar, a release said.

The tour of the 40-member team, with 20 students including both boys and girls, to the ISRO's Space Applications Centre (SAC) offered them an opportunity to learn about various aspects of operations of ISRO, the release added.

Tapan Misra, a space scientist and the director of ISRO Space Applications Centre, complimented Tata Steel and Pathani Samanta Planetarium for organising the tour and interacted with the students at the institute.

The students visited various laboratories and centres inside the campus and observed the making of real satellites to be launched in the near future.
