Fire breaks out in UP girls' school, students rescued


Lucknow, April 24 (IANS): Over 30 girl students of a school in Bilsanda area of Pilibhit were rescued by villagers after their school building caught fire, official said.

The fire broke out in the morning at Kastoorba Girls' School in Bilsanda area of Pilibhit as the classes began after the morning prayer.

A guard at the school sustained burn injuries while 33 students were rescued from their class rooms when fire broke out in the school building.

Books, school bags, furniture and many important documents along with the electrical appliances were gutted in the fire, a district official said.

The school run by the state government has 150 students. The district administration has ordered a probe.

Some girls with minor injuries were administered first aid and sent home.
