London, April 21 (IANS): Blur frontman Damon Albarn has criticised the “selfie generation” popstars for not using their music to discuss wider issues.
The 47-year-old told Sunday Times' Culture magazine that artists today are only interested in talking about how they feel, reports dailymail.co.uk.
“Young artists talk about themselves, not what's happening out there. It's the selfie generation. They're talking platitudes," Albarn said.
“What are any of them saying? I don't hear anything other than, 'This is how I feel'. Which is an important part of song-writing, but we're talking in the context of the election - and they don't have anything to do with it,” he added.
Blur will release their next album “The Magic Whip” later this month.
