Gunmen kill provincial Afghan official


Kabul, April 11 (IANS): Unidentified gunmen shot dead a senior provincial government official in Afghanistan's Wardak province on Friday.

"Pir Mohammad Kuchi, the financial chief of provincial administration, was on way to his office when two unknown gunmen riding a motorbike intercepted his car and opened fire, killing him on the spot," Xinhua news agency quoted Attaullah Khogiani, spokesman for the provincial government, as telling reporters.

The deadly attack took place around 8 a.m. next to the Governor House in the provincial capital city of Maidan Shar.
