Israeli girl's body found after Thailand capsize

Bangkok, April 9 (IANS): Rescuers on Thursday found the body of a 12-year-old Israeli girl who was trapped in a bathroom on a burning tourist ferry that capsized off Thailand's Krabi town.

The 35-metre "Ao Nang Princess 5" was carrying 115 passengers -- 107 adults and eight children. It was about eight kilometres off Railay beach near Ao Nang on Wednesday when a fire started in the engine room, The Bangkok Post reported.

The flames quickly engulfed the vessel, which burned to the waterline before capsizing.

The body of Shani Maril, 12, was found amid the ferry wreckage.

A police official said Maril was believed to have been in a toilet near the engine room when 100 other frightened passengers and crew were rescued from the burning ferry.
