Pleasant morning in Srinagar, warm night in Jammu


Srinagar, April 9 (IANS): It was a pleasant sunny morning in Srinagar on Thursday as the minimum temperature stood at 7.0 degrees Celsius. The Met Office has forecast a clear, sunny day ahead.

"Sky will be clear throughout the day and the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 18 degrees Celsius", the Met office here told IANS.

The weather office said dry weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 48 hours. In Jammu city, the night was warm at 14.5 degrees Celsius.

"Weather will remain mainly dry in next two days. However, there may be light rain with thundershowers at isolated places in the state", the official said.

The minimum temperature on Thursday at Pahalgam was 0.2 degree Celsius and in Gulmarg it was recorded at the freezing point.

Kargil and Leh towns of the Ladakh region recorded the day's minimum temperatures at minus 2.0 degrees and minus 0.8 degree Celsius respectively.

The minimum temperature was 7.0 degrees in Jammu region's Banihal town, 9.1 in Batote town, and 5.7 degrees in Baderwah town.

Jammu city had a warm Wednesday night, the minimum temperature rising to 14.5 degrees Celsius.
