Thiruvananthapuram, April 6 (IANS): Saritha Nair, an accused in the solar panel scam in Kerala, on Monday said a letter currently being shown by TV channels, that accuses politicians of exploiting her, was a fake and not written by her.

The letter accused Kerala Finance Minister K.M. Mani's son Jose K. Mani, the Lok Sabha member from Kottayam, and other politicians of exploiting her.

"Don't I know my handwriting? The one being now shown on TV channels is not my handwriting. I am in talks with my counsel and we are going to file a case stating that it's a forged one," Nair said.

"It's most unfortunate that this fake letter is being used politically. I have met Jose K. Mani only once and there were seven other people from my office with me," she said.

Nair and her live-in partner Biju Radhakrishnan are accused of cheating many investors promising to supply them with solar panels worth millions of rupees.

The Rs.70-million solar panel scam that surfaced in 2013 had at one point rocked the Oommen Chandy government after it was found out that three of his staff members had maintained links with Nair.

After the scam broke out, Chandy booted the three staff members from his office.

While Nair is out on bail, Radhakrishnan is yet to get bail.

Jose K. Mani, meanwhile, said his life was an open book and he has done no wrong.

Former legislator Joseph M. Puthuserry, spokesperson of the Kerala Congress-Mani, said the letter was a "conspiracy". "We are going to file a case against it," he said.
