Congress raps Modi for his 'five star' remark on judiciary

New Delhi, April 6 (IANS): Congress on Monday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remark that judiciary must not be influenced by five-star activism.

"By suggesting so, the prime minister is saying that our judiciary is influenced by five-star activism," Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said while addressing a press conference here.

"He (Modi) in his remarks had observed that judiciary is influenced by five-star activism. What does that mean?" the Congress leader asked.

Singh said that Congress opposes the comment.

"No prime minister (of India) has commented on the country's judiciary," Singh added.

Modi in his address to a joint conference of chief ministers and chief justices of the high courts on Friday had advised the judiciary to be careful of five-star activism.
