Kolkata, April 1 (IANS): Noble laureate Rabindranath Tagore's timeless songs will be played in harmony with European classical music, courtesy a concert by three German musicians and an Indian orchestra.
Tagore's Rabindra Sangeet in orchestral format, blended with works of European classical masters will be presented by acclaimed German trio, Trio d' Anches in collaboration with noted Indian conductor-composer Abraham Mazumder of Kolkata Music Academy (KMA) and its orchestra on April 4.
"Nine songs of Tagore will be rendered in a European style, in the compositions of masters like Beethoven, Mozart and others. Some will be purely instrumental while others will be vocals," Madhusree Mazumder, director of KMA told IANS on Wednesday.
The Indo-German musical evening will be held at the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
KMA is a non-profit organisation of European classical music and is known for its chamber orchestra. Trio d'Anches comprises of JArg Schneider (on the oboe), Steffen Dillner (on clarinet), Philipp Zeller (on the bassoon).
