BJP resorting to innuendos to deflect from land bill: Congress

New Delhi, March 26 (IANS): The Congress on Thursday accused the BJP of deflecting attention from "core issues" like the land bill by resorting to "concerted innuendos and insinuations".

"The only party who is scared of the Congress is the BJP. By resorting to concerted innuendos and insinuations, it can't take the attention of the country away from the fundamental failure of the government on core issues like the land bill," party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told IANS.

His reaction came in the backdrop of the 2013-14 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report that claimed that the erstwhile Congress government in Haryana extended undue favours to Robert Vadra, the son-in-law of party chief Sonia Gandhi.

Vadra through his company Skylight Hospitality Private Limited allegedly bought land cheap from the Congress-led state government and sold it at a higher price to reality giant DLF after getting the land use norms changed.

The Congress, however, said the state government "did everything in accordance with the law, rules, and procedures".

The BJP said: "The public was always convinced there was a massive scam in Haryana...Vadra's company was extended undue favours and he made massive gains by misusing the authorities."
