Cambodian PM accuses Michelle Obama of making 'false promises'

Bangkok, March 26 (IANS): Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Sen has accused US first lady Michelle Obama of making "false promises" during her recent visit to the country to promote girls' education, media reported Thursday.

Obama launched the Cambodian component of the US government's “Let Girls Learn” initiative during a visit to Siem Reap last weekend.

The global initiative promotes quality education for adolescent girls.

At the launch, Obama encouraged 10 female students to continue studying.

Hun Sen said that Obama's visit was more about "hopeful rhetoric" than concrete improvements to the country's education system, Efe news agency reported citing the Phnom Penh Post daily.

"I thought the United States would give scholarships to those students until they complete university, but that's not (the case). I had strongly hoped (that was the situation), but she just came here to choose people and then (left) it to the ministry of education," said Hun Sen.

The prime minister spoke a day after Education Minister Hang Chuon Naron requested state university scholarships for the 10 girls, whose education through to the end of secondary school is being funded by the NGO, Room to Read.

A US embassy spokesperson told the Phnom Penh Post that Obama had not promised any financial support and that the Let Girls Learn initiative seeks to break down barriers to education by raising awareness of access inequalities.

Cambodia is among 11 nations included in the first phase of the initiative launched this month by US President Barack Obama and his wife and overseen by the US Peace Corps.

This Obama and his regime should be in prison. Anyone in government or law enforcement protecting this is doing so for JUDAS pay and pension. Defenders of Obama have betrayed God and the Constitution.

$74.5 million in US taxpayer funded aid (2014 alone) to Cambodia isn't enough??? I'm sure the Prime Minister could reach into his deep pockets filled by foreign government aid to pay the ten girls' education.

It's already bad enough that illegal immigrants, breaking many US laws feel entitled to US benefits and education!

Now we see people in Cambodia express their entitlement (right) to US Taxpayer cash and education for free? Pathetic !

Sorry Prime Minister. The Obamas only give free college scholarships to illegal aliens from Central America and Mexico. If you can get these 10 girls to move there and change their names then they are a shoe in for a free ride. Meanwhile is taxpayers are stuck with the bill

Join the Club PM Hun Sen. The obamas are full of empty rhetoric and false promises. After 6 years of this we, the American people, have ped the facade of the term 'false promises' and realized the obamas and everything they say are actually bold-faced lies, known to them beforehand, but still told to the public to advance a devious political agenda. They are frauds of the highest level and the only person who should be ashamed anymore is anyone that still falls for them.

They are too busy trying to build that school they promised in Kenya. Don't feel bad, they have treated others worse. All you need to do is google Obama for the past week to see how he treats his allies.

The world needs to understand there is no truth at all coming from the Obama's but to be fair I ask the global community for one example of one promise kept by the first family?
