Five new swine flu cases in Bengal, CPI-M leader discharged


Kolkata, March 25 (IANS): Five fresh cases of swine flu have been recorded in West Bengal, taking the total figure for the state to 463 but no more deaths, a health official said on Wednesday.

"The toll is 24. Five new cases have been detected. The total number of cases is now 463," Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Malay Kumar De told IANS.

There were no deaths since Friday, he added.

Communist Party of India-Marxist leader Gautam Deb, who was afflicted with the viral disease, was released from the private hospital treating him on Wednesday.
