Be on time or be marked absent, Rajasthan employees told

Jaipur, March 24 (IANS): The Rajasthan government has asked all its employees to report on duty on time or be marked absent.

"As per the new order, the class IV employees, or peons, have been asked to report to their offices by 9 a.m. while all others have been asked to reach by 9.30 a.m. They will be allowed to reach till 9.40 a.m. but after that they will be marked absent," a senior official of state administrative reforms department told IANS.

"Disciplinary action as per service rules would be taken up against regular offenders," official said.

According to state government sources, the need for this order was felt as employees in majority of departments were found coming late, as found during a number of sudden inspections.
