Micromax to sell TV exclusively on Flipkart


New Delhi, March 12 (IANS): Indian cellphone major Micromax, which recently ventured into the television market, said on Thursday that its large screen ultra high-definition (UHD) range will be available for consumers exclusively via e-commerce portal Flipkart.

According to the online seller who is bullish over the tie-up, UHD range of televisions (TV) is drawing "tremendous growth" in consumer's interest.

"We are confident that the new 4K UHD Smart Televisions from Micromax on our platform will be an instant hit amongst customers who are looking for the next big thing in this segment," the portal's vice president of retail Amitesh Jha said in a statement.

The mobile phone maker said it is eying growth opportunities in the TV segment in India.

"The new range targets the consumers who want a larger than life experience and desire to access smart android content on a bigger, sharper, crystal clear screen. We are committed to grow this category further and consolidate our position in the television segment in India," said co-founder of the mobile phone maker Rajesh Agarwal.

The new gadget integrates various Google services on the Android platform with the traditional TV viewing experience.
