Puttur, Feb 6: In a bizarre incident a man hacked his son-in-law to death over a property dispute at Karnur-Bantekallu near Eshwarmangala on Sunday February 4 night.

Vishwanath Rai stabbed his son-in-law Ramesh Rai (26) after exchange of heated arguments between them on Sunday night.  As a result Ramesh Rai died on the spot.  Police sources said that a long-pending property dispute resulted in the murder.  Ramesh is said to have asked his share in Vishwanath's property which in turn resulted in quarrel.

Ramesh had married Vishwanath's daughter sometime ago. It was a love marriage.  However, Ramesh had tried for a second marriage a year ago.  But he was arrested by police in this regard and was let off after giving a undertaking in writing that he would continue living with his first wife.

This later resulted in continued tussle between the couple in the last one year.  Meanwhile Ramesh turned his eye on Vishwanath's property and demanded his share in it.  But Vishwanath was not willing to part his property with Ramesh which ultimately ended in the murder of the latter.

The Puttur rural police have registered a case in this regard.
