Income Tax officials raid GIP mall in Noida

Noida, March 10 (IANS): Income tax (IT) officials on Tuesday conducted a raid at offices of the Great India Palace (GIP) mall inside the shopping plaza here.

The entry of visitors was stopped for a while and the IT officials screened accounts books of the GIP.

An official said the income tax department received information that the company had been evading tax, so a team of the IT officials was assigned to conduct the raid at the offices of the promoters of the GIP mall.

Sources said a 12-member team conducted a raid at the company's offices situated on different floors of the mall.

The account books were seized from the mall's basement.

The details of the recovery were yet to be prepared, said the sources.

The Noida Police provided assistance to the IT team and no untoward incident took place during the raid.

"Our duty was to provide security to the raiding team which we performed as per law," said a police officer.
