World-class tourism infrastructure in twelve cities soon


New Delhi, March 9 (IANS): The tourism ministry will develop world class infrastructure in twelve cities - that see high pilgrim traffic - in different parts of the country, the Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.

The twelve cities - Amritsar, Ajmer, Amaravati, Dwarka, Gaya, Kanchipuram, Kedarnath, Kamakhya, Mathura, Puri, Varanasi and Vellankani will be developed as part of the ministry's Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (Prasad).

The project will implemented in mission mode, Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) said in a written reply.
