Mangalore, Jan 19: M Lokayya Shetty memorial invitational Dakshina Kannada District wrestling championship will be held on Sunday January 21 at Mangala Stadium here.  The championship has been organized by Dakshina Kannada District Wrestling Association.

The championship will be inaugurated by deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao.  MLC and senior Congress leader Blasius M D'Souza will preside over the inaugural function.

NMPT president Tamil Vanan, Yenepoya Medical College president Abdul Kunji, Dakshina Kannada Lorry Owners Association president K Sanjeev Shetty and Aspinwal, Mangalore manager Shekhar Poojary will be the guest of the honour on the occasion.

The valedictory of the championship will be held on the same evening and will be presided over by district-in-charge minister Nagaraj Shetty.  Superintendent of Police B Dayananda will distribute prizes to the winners.

A J Shetty, president of Lakshmi Memorial Education Trust, Prabhakar Rao, director of works department of MCF, Sathish Pai and Jagdish Shetty, president of Popular English Medium School, Bajpe will be the special invitees for the valedictory.

This was announced in a press conference by Prakash Kadri here on Friday January 19 morning. Honorary president of the Association Sureshchandra Shetty, president Naveen Karkera, secretary Prakash Karkera, Shobhendra Sasihitlu and Sukhpal Jain were also present at the press conference.
