Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 16: The departure of a Dubai-bound Emirates flight on Monday was delayed for about two hours in Thiruvananthapuram after a knife was found in the passenger shelf of the aircraft, airport sources said.
A rusty knife tumbled down from the shelf when a passenger was keeping his bag in the shelf on embarking the aircraft. He brought the matter to the notice of the flight crew.

Following this, the passengers were asked to disembark and a thorough search was conducted.

The airport baggage-checking unit dismissed the possibility of the knife being carried into the aircraft by any of the passengers.

The flight, scheduled to depart at 4:30 am, left at 6:30 am carrying all the passengers.
