Puttur, Jan 15: A construction worker hailing from Jarkhand drowned in river while bathing at Noojibaltila near Kadaba here on Sunday January 14 afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Rajendar Jadhav (25), son of Siri Jadhav of Lathehar district in Jarkhand.  He was working as labourer in the under-construction Ichlampady bridge site.  Since Sunday was a holiday for the works, he had gone to take bath in the river at Berike which is near to the construction site.   As he was having bath, he is said to have moved to deep waters from where he could not come out.

Rajendar Jadhav had joined the construction works at Ichlampady on December 14, 2006 along with his brother Bijandar Jadhav.  He is survived by wife and seven-month-old baby boy.

Meanwhile sources said that Rajendar is the second labourer from Ichlampady construction site who met sudden death.  It was only a few days ago another worker from Orissa working in the same bridge construction had died of cardiac arrest.

The Kadaba police have registered a case in this regard.
