Mangalore, Jan 14: A state-level open rapid chess tournament will be organized by South Kanara District Chess Association will in Sharada Vidyalaya, Kodialbail here on January 20 and 21.
Speaking to press persons here on Saturday, president of the association M S Gururaj said that the 150 players would participate in the event.
The event will be conducted in Swiss league system and 40 top FIDE rated players of the state will participate in the tournament.
The event will be held in six categories – Under 7, 9,11,13,15 and 17 and will be inaugurated by United Karnataka Chess Association president Achuthananda Reddy.
