US automation firm to focus on India

Chennai, Feb 11 (IANS): US-based Rockwell Automation - an industrial automation and information solutions company - is focussing on emerging markets like India for increased business for its connected enterprise solution, officials said.

"In India, industries like automotive and cement sectors are early adopters of connected enterprises," Rockwell Automation India managing director Dilip Sawhney told reporters here Wednesday.

He said the life sciences sector was one more emerging industry in the country that was going for connected enterprise.

Connected enterprise means connecting the shop floor operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT).

Tom O'Reilly, Rockwell Automation president for Asia Pacific, said: "We are clearly focussed on the biggest emerging markets like India, China and Southeast Asia. In these markets, there is a rapid growth due to increase rate of urbanisation and with this opens huge prospects for Rockwell's products and solutions."

Rockwell Automation, which has partnered with Microsoft and Cisco, held a fair on the theme "The Connected Enterprise" here.
