The low-cost airline has launched another discount scheme, this time, promising to offer tickets at a rate cheaper than trains. The three-day discount sale till February 13 offers domestic ticket at Rs 599 while international flights start as low as Rs 3499 per person. Lower jet fuel prices are expected to reduce airfare. This month itself, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has been slashed by a steep 11.3 percent. ATF attracts an excise duty of 8 percent. Jet fuel constitutes over 40 percent of an airline's operating costs and the price cut will ease the financial burden of cash-strapped carriers.
