Gang-rape video on WhatsApp shames India, PLEASE help trace the culprits

Hyderabad, Feb 6 (Agencies) : Two women were not only allegedly gang-raped, but the culprits filmed the whole act on mobile phones. They are seen smiling while taking turns to rape the women. Two separate videos are being shared on popular messaging service WhatsApp. Strangely, no one came forward and informed the police about these videos.

The victim’s face got revealed to all those who saw the video. Now a women's right activist has waged a battle to identify the culprits and push authorities to act against the six alleged rapists seen in the video.

Sunita Krishnan runs an NGO in Hyderabad. She was gang-raped by eight men when she was 15. Now, she runs an anti-trafficking NGO

The videos were discovered by her and she decided to take action. "Ten second into the video, I was overcome. I had to stop as I needed to throw up," she said while talking to NDTV.

She took help of her husband who is a film-maker and got the videos edited. She protected the identity of the victim in the videos but managed to reveal the alleged culprits and their smiling faces.

The videos are reported to be six months old.

"If you know of anybody who has received any such videos, inform me at sunitha_2002@yahoo.com," Sunita writes on her Facebook page. "I don't know how many people saw these videos and remained silent. WE WILL NOT."

"They are prowling around and are a threat to any woman or child. Please help us trace them. We need to nationally shame them and then hand them to the authorities", reads her Facebook post.
