German, Greek finance ministers divided in first meeting

Berlin, Feb 5 (IANS): The finance ministers of Greece and Germany were divided in their first meeting here Thursday.

Following the meeting with his Greek counterpart Yanis Varoufakis, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble told a press conference that "we agreed to disagree."

"Some measures proposed by Greece do not go in the direction we approve," Xinhua news agency quoted Schaeuble as saying.

Greece's top officials, including new Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Varoufakis, have been busy lobbying this week across Europe for a solution to the country's debt crisis.
