Heroin seized from Pakistani goods in Malaysia

Islamabad, Feb 4 (IANS): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of Pakistan with the help of Malaysian authorities and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) have seized 55 kilograms of heroin from six Pakistani labourers in Kuala Lumpur.

The consignment had been declared as export goods and all the six suspects were taken into custody, Dawn reported Wednesday.

The DEA shared the intelligence with the ANF about the drug being smuggled in the garb of export goods from Karachi to Kuala Lumpur, a spokesman for the force said.

The operation, carried out in Malaysia, was linked to an earlier stint wherein the ANF, DEA and Malaysian authorities foiled a similar bid to smuggle heroin concealed in wooden furniture stored in a warehouse and arrested six people at that time as well.
