Kejriwal dares government to arrest him

New Delhi, Feb 3 (IANS): In a speech in which he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday dared the government to arrest him if he was guilty of money laundering.

"I challenge the government to arrest me if they have the courage," Kejriwal thundered at an Aam Aadmi Party election rally at Trilokpuri in east Delhi.

"They don't have the guts to do that," the former Delhi chief minister added to sustained applause.

Kejriwal was responding to charges levelled by the BJP that the AAP had indulged in money laundering. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Tuesday said a probe will be ordered into this.

Kejriwal said even his critics admitted that he was an honest man.

"Even my worst critics, who may see a hundred faults in me, have never accused me of financial wrongdoing."

Earlier in the day, at a Bharatiya Janata Party rally here, Modi accused the AAP of money laundering and for taking the support of the Congress in December 2013 to form a government in the capital.

In his speech, Kejriwal accused Modi of making false promises ahead of the Lok Sabha election last year.

He also charged several BJP leaders, including BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi and central minister Nirmala Sitharaman, of calling him names. "But I don't fear anyone."

Expressing confidence that the AAP was set to win Saturday's assembly election, Kejriwal said he would take the oath of office Feb 15.
