MKCA Media Release

Chicago, Jan 8:   The Mangalorean Konkan Christians Association ® (MKCA) announced its newly elected members for the Executive Committee for the year 2007.

They are Stan D’Souza, President; Lawrence Mascarenhas, Vice President; Mark Rodrigues, Secretary, Rose Mascarenhas, Joint Secretary, and Godwin Rego, Treasurer.

While Stan D’Souza and Godwin Rego were re-elected for the same positions, Lawrence Mascarenhas and Rose Mascarenhas were newly elected. Mark Rodrigues has been stepped up from the Joint Secretary to the Secretary position.

The general body has nominated the following members as the Board of Directors:  Mercy Concesso, Lance Dias, Melville D’Souza, Dr. Merlyn D’Souza, James Fernandes, Ligoury Martis, Allen Martis, Francis Mascarenhas, Jossie Mendonca, Vinod Menezes, Sally Quadros and Florine Rodrigues. 

The General Body has also nominated the Chairpersons for the various committees:  Queenie Mendonca, Publicity and Public Relations; Francis Mascarenhas, Membership and Vinod Menezes, Constitution.  The committee retained Amarante Carvalho as its Legal Advisor.

The President Stan D’Souza thanked the outgoing Vice President Francis Mascarenhas and Secretary Vinod Menezes for their wonderful service and leadership during the past year.

MKCA was formed about 4 yeas back by the like minded Mangaloreans in Chicago with the leadership of its founder president Austin D’Souza Prabhu. Every year the MKCA members organize several successful culturally unique programs to preserve and promote the Mangalorean culture in their adopted land – the United States of America.

Newly formed committee announced its schedule of this year’s events and they are:   Easter Fest, April 7; Konkan Fest, June 16; Annual Picnic, July 28; Monti Fest, September 8; Christmas Around the World, November (date to be announced) and Nathal Fest, December 15.
