AAP caught red-handed receiving funds from 'dubous' companies

New Delhi, Feb 3 (PTI): Coming down hard on AAP, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said the party was caught "red-handed" in receiving funds through "round-tripping" from companies which did not have any business and accused it of adopting "diversionary tactics" to deflect attention.

Jaitley called the Rs 2 crore donation through cheques of Rs.50 lakh each by four companies to AAP a clear case of "round-tripping of black money" and indicated that a probe will be initiated into it by the concerned authorities.

AAP Volunteer Action Manch (AVAM), a breakaway group of the Aam Aadmi Party, yesterday had accused the Arvind Kejriwal-led party of receiving Rs 2 crore last year through four "dubious" companies.

The AAP has rejected the charges and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe funding of all three major parties in Delhi polls.

"It is obvious that this is a round-tripping of black money into the system of a political party. Now, if you are perhaps trapped in an incident of this kind, this is no position that you should start blaming other political parties and try and deflect the agenda," he said.

On AAP seeking a Supreme Court-monitored probe into funding of the three major parties in Delhi polls, Jaitley said, "These are all diversionary tactics. AAP and its leadership has been caught red-handed in this case.

"I'm sure the statutory authorities will do their job as and when their returns are filed and as and when the facts are brought to their notice."

Asserting that it adopted "total transparency" in its funding, AAP accused BJP of attempting to influence the voters ahead of the February 7 polls by bringing out "false" allegations.

Rejecting AAP's argument that it received the donations through cheques, Jaitley said, "The elementary question is when you give your money by cheque, who is the controlling interest behind that company, the party is supposed to know that."

He further said it was "obvious that these comnpanies have been used as pass-through entities, transacted through hawala means or through companies which convert that money and give entries in white money to others."

Jaitley said AAP has to answer who were behind these companies and what was their source of income.

if we make a realistic analysis, this assembly election in delhi will be a very tight fight between aap and bjp and congress may fetch a big zero may not even open account this time.

the main plus for aap is kejri giving promises to slum dwellers who are close to 30-40 lakhs who have constructed thier temporary illegal houses and kejri has promised them free house, electricity, water.we cant blame poor peoples as they have believed him that he will do it for them.the number of slum dwellers are not a constant in delhi as every day thousands of migrants come from up,bihar etc and construct illegal houses.from where kejri brings funds to fulfill his promises, only he knows.

its a win win situation for bjp as if aap wins this will be a acid test for them not only in front of people od delhi but also people of india thet whther they are just good in giving unrealistic promises or also good in implemeting the unrealistic promises they are giving in pre election speechs.

bjp if they win it will be just another feather in thier cap and if not that will not hamper thier spirits as thier main goal is to win big states like up,bihar, bengal, assam and karnataka.

congress has already lost it in entire india and they are even shaky in thier traditional strong holds like kerala and assam.

when modi asked to make congress mukt bharat everybody was laughing.
but seeing the present state of congress after modi wave, future looks bleak for them.

Next time when someone receives an account payee cheque please ensure you ask the person giving the cheque whether it is black money or white money? Source of funds and also ask them whether they have filed an IT statement? This is what the finance minister of the country is saying. It is your responsibility to varify the source of funds. This is ridiculous of an finance minister.
Even if the cheque was issued by Ravi Poojary or Dawood Ibrahim, it is banks responsibility to make sure such people do not hold the account not of the person receiving the cheque and en-chashing them through his account. Come on Jaitley..grow up.

Mr. Jaitley / Nirmala Sitaraman / Sushma Swaraj should come clean as to who funded their LS elections and from where the BJP got its funds. Nirmala Sitaraman & Sushma Swaraj remind me of the fisher-women in Hampankatta market.
