Murder witness killed in Bihar village

Patna, Feb 2 (IANS): A murder witness was beaten to death in a village in Bihar's Nawada district, police said Monday.

Arjun Choudhary, a resident of Balabigha village, was attacked by some villagers for refusing to compromise in his younger brother's murder case.

"My father was brutally beaten with bamboo sticks when he refused to make any compromise in the murder case," the victim's son Suresh Choudhary told police in a complaint.

Stating that his father succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, Suresh said the accused attacked his father when the two of them were working in their field.

A case was lodged against four accused on the basis of Suresh Choudhary's statement, a police official said.

Arjun Choudhary's younger brother was killed in 2011 by those named as accused and he was one of the main witnesses in that case.
