Complaint registered against Gurgaon realtor for land grabbing

Gurgaon, Feb 2 (IANS): The economic offences wing (EOW) of Gurgaon Police has registered a complaint against a realtor for illegally taking over farmers' land, police said Monday.

The farmers of Sikanderpur (Sihi-Badha) near sector 82-83 on the Delhi-Jaipur-Mumbai national highway lodged a complaint against top officials of Vatika India Next for grabbing their revenue pathways and plots.

They made their complaint to Gurgaon police commissioner Navdeep Singh Virk who handed over the investigation to EOW (south) for further action.

We have issued notices to Vatika officials and sought land papers from them. Prima facie it looks like the realtor firm violated the norms and took illegal possession of some revenue pathways, investigation officer Rajpal Singh said.

Vatika India Next is building houses, flats, villas and developing commercial sites on more than 700 acres after purchasing the land from the farmers of Sikanderpur, Shikohpur, Sihi and Rampura villages. The area falls under sectors 82, 82 A and 83.

When contacted, the company's land manager Brij Kishor Singh who is also an accused in the farmers' complaint, refused to comment on the issue.

The majority of farmers have already sold their land to realtors but some who did not sell are facing these problems.

"The builder has been pressurising us indirectly to sell our remaining land and some district officials, specially from the revenue department, have been unofficially working for realtors," Sudhir Yadav, a farmer, said.

Earlier, on March 21 last year, senior Vatika officials were booked for damaging ready-to-harvest mustard crops and beating up a farmer.
