AAP releases manifesto, promises full statehood for Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Saturday released its manifesto for the Feb 7 Delhi assembly elections, focusing on full statehood, women's safety and reducing electricity tariff.

The AAP intends to enhance women's safety by installing CCTV cameras.

The manifesto also promised to open 20 new colleges, a 50 percent reduction in power tariff, clean drinking water at affordable prices and a free Wi-Fi zone, among others.

Releasing the manifesto, Kejriwal said that it was a sacred document for them akin to "the Geeta, Bible, Quran, and the Guru Granth Sahib".

He said that party would implement all the promises made in their manifesto as they had done in the earlier rule of 49 days.

Taking a dig at BJP for not coming out with a manifesto, Kejriwal said that the BJP was shying away from making any promises as they had not fulfilled any of the promises they had made at the time of the Lok Sabha election.

"What to say about fulfilling promises, they (BJP) have not taken any steps in that direction," the AAP leader said.

He added: "BJP had talked of bringing down prices but they are rising unabated. They had also talked of bringing down the rate of electricity charges but the same has been hiked twice since they came to power."

Plans of eradicating corruption have met a similar fate.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had announced that it would abstain from releasing a manifesto for the Delhi poll and would instead come up with a 'vision document'.

With regard to the Congress, Kejriwal said that in their rule of 15 years they released three manifestos in which they had made tall claims, but sadly most of their promises have not realised.

Delhi will go for poll Feb 7 and the counting of votes is set to take place Feb 10.

Youth from Delhi say that all the good work,Arvind Kejriwal did in 49 days, the Modi government can never do in 60 years, such is their proclamation on TV.This could be true, because when foreign dignitaries visit India,Modi is barely able to sleep 3 hours.Afterall,he needs all the time to rehearse putting one phrase to the next in his dragging English speech. No wonder Obama and most of the crowd was yawning. Why doesn't he read his written speech or simply speak in the language he is comfortable in.India will shine and prosper when such fekugiri ceases.

If there's one politician who's man enough to walk the talk, as far as pre-poll promises are concerned, it's AK. And that precisely is the reason why he quit last time, he chose to quit as he promised when the Lokpal implementation was turned down. But the followers of power hungry chameleons called him names. Now the same followers a have adopted a different strategy, they say they want AAP to win so that they can show Delhi as an example of bad governance and win UP/Bihar. If they win Delhi by hook or crook, they'll conveniently forget their so called strategy and continue to sing praises Namo Namaha!

Kejriwal is a person who can do something for us, but lacks patience. I regret for voting other fakes. I get lot of emails from PMO. In reality I do not see anything happening. Same like previous UPA govt. Our PM only interested in either going abroad or bringing foreign leaders. Just speeches n show ups.....

The time is come for the Indian public to realize their old mistakes and to introspect and take corrective measures.
Does the country wants the same old, aged, almost illiterate, un educated, dynasty thugs, fundamental rogues...or vise versa.
Why people do not realize the good things with AAP and give a chance.
Now India doesn't have a strong OPPOSITION Party..it is going to be disaster...need real development not paper development....9 months now and delivery expected as promise goes...

delhi is a small union teritory fully dependent on central govt.without central support it could not even survive for a year and even if it survives it will just like a govt with empty treasury if a non central govt party comes to power.

there will be lot of thrill if kejri comes to power in delhi with a full majority bjp govt in centre.
