Governor orders reshuffle in Jammu and Kashmir police


Jammu, Jan 27 (IANS): Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra Tuesday ordered a major reshuffle in the police.

This is the first administrative reshuffle ordered by Vohra after he took over the reins of governance following the imposition of governor's rule in the state Jan 8.

The 84 senior police officers transferred today include two IGs (Inspector General), seven DIGs (Deputy Inspector General), and 75 SSPs (Senior Superintendent of Police) and SPs (Superintendent of Police).

Sunil Kumar Sharma was posted as IG (human rights) and Yoginder Koul was posted as IG (India Reserve police).

Ghulam Hassan Bhat was posted as DIG (Srinagar-Badgam range) replacing Afadul Mujtaba, who has been posted as DIG (CID Jammu).

Many district police chiefs have also been shifted from their current places of posting.
