Security alarm triggers panic in Shimla

Shimla, Jan 27 (IANS): A technical snag in the security alarm, which has been operating since the days of the British Raj, triggered panic in this Himachal Pradesh capital early Tuesday.

The alarm, installed at the central telegraph office building on the Mall, went off and the residents came out of their houses. They made fanatic calls to the police and the fire department.

"There was some technical snag in the siren and it was rectified," an official of the fire department told IANS.
