Rajasthan celebrates Republic Day


Jaipur, Jan 26 (IANS): The 66th Republic Day was celebrated across Rajasthan Monday with gaiety and enthusiasm.

Governor Kalyan Singh unfurled the national flag in the Sawai Mansingh Stadium at a function in Jaipur.

Kalyan Singh said in his speech that everyone should work for the development of the state.

"The state government is working on a strategy to provide employment opportunities to 15 lakh youth in the state," he said. He highlighted the 'Swachh Rajasthan'-'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and construction of toilets in the state.

He said the labour reforms which the state government undertook have been praised at the national level.

The governor received the salute by the marching contingents amid cheers and thunderous applause from spectators.

Personnel from the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary, Rajasthan Police, Government Railway Police, home guards, traffic police and the National Cadet Corps along with school children participated in the parade.

After the parade, 1,200 school children and 150 artists performed various folk dances of the state.

Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The governor will later honour officers, employees, police personnel and players for their distinguished and meritorious services.
