Re-designed websites of energy ministries launched

New Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS): In a move aligned with the "Digital India" programme, several ministries in the energy domain including power, coal and new and renewable energy have re-designed their websites by inculcating user-friendly features.

According to an official statement, the re-designed websites sport user friendly features and are more responsive when accessed through mobile phones and computer tablets.

"These websites will continue to be further improved in the days to come to make them even more communicative and easy to navigate," the statement said.

Speaking on the sidelines of the websites launch event Power Minsiter Piyush Goyal said: “E-governance is easy, economical and effective governance and departments are taking great strides towards this endeavour."

The minister pointed that the new websites launched on the eve of the World Economic Forum at Davos will also help showcase India’s energy sector to the international business community.

Giving details of the new user friendly features, Goyal said that the websites have been re-designed with user requirements in mind.

This has led to creation of industry specific slugs to ease in access of information, he said.

Commenting about the Power Ministry's website, National Informatics Centre's (NIC) Technical Director C.K. Shukla said it has been re-designed and maintained by the software services arm of IANS.

"This mobile friendly, content rich website is designed by IANS Software Services inline with globally accepted standards on top of state-of-the-art open source technologies with a scalable, secure drupal as content management system," Shukla said.
