You’re quick to put CCTV cameras for Obama, why not for Indians: Delhi HC to govt

New Delhi, Jan 17 (Agencies) : Noting that the government had installed CCTV cameras in Delhi for the visit of US President Barack Obama, the Delhi High Court on Friday said the government had “not acted so fast” when it came to the security of citizens.

“Because of a foreign president, you do it, but not for Indian citizens. If we direct you to do it for Indians, you do in months and years, else you do it in weeks. Let’s get someone from outer space,” the bench of Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva remarked while hearing a plea that 15,000 CCTV cameras installed for the Obama visit should not be removed after Republic Day.

The plea was filed in a case taken up after the December 16, 2012 gangrape case. Amicus curiae Meera Bhatia, in an application, sought orders that CCTVs should not be removed “in a hurry” from sensitive areas such as “entry and exit points in Delhi and also other places which are mapped as high crime rate zones in Delhi”.

The court has now issued notice to the Centre, Delhi government and police, seeking their response on whether the cameras will be removed. It also remarked that it will take the government “years to remove it, if they don’t get vandalized before that”.

It is strange question from HC justice panel. !!!!

Did they forget international law, it is the responsibilities of any Host Nation to give full security & protect the Visiting President or PM's life by providing all the safety requirements?.

The present situation is bad due to terrorists targeting India & UN members. It is the duty of the ruling Government to protect the guests.

If any thing goes wrong, the same SC, HC & UN will ask why proper protection is not given???

It looks like these Justice panels are like Bolliwood police who arrive the location after the accidents.

Every where politics....How India will improve??

Abdul Rafiq bc...you cannot fool around with security when foreign dignatories are visiting. Hence such measures have to be taken. The common man was not covered with security or CC TV even when the KHANgress was ruling. Do you know that. Of course Antanio Maino Khan and Raul Vinci Khan had Z class security , They even enjoy the benefits even now, I guess even Bianca Vinci Khan & family enjoys such faciliies do you ever bother to ask them. Dont simply buxxhit in this forum.

    Dear Vellano vhe vhe vhe.......
Why you are hiding your name and not writing the real name. There is no specific spelling for Hindu & Muslim names. People using different spellings for the same names in different areas.

For eg. We are writing Ganesh in our areas but Tamilians writing Ganesan. How you know Shuba is using Hindu name and not a Hindu? Means you BJP-Sanghis thinking Hindus are property of BJP and they cannot criticize your party!!! strange.

Vellano mere dost, just by beginning your sentence with 'with due respect to court' doesn't absolve you of contempt of court.

Last time your threat to reach it to the 'right ears' scared the daylights of some of the commentators as it put a full stop to the entire debate abruptly!

Geffery, thats why you are novice in a such matters! Is it a JUDGEMENT, I questioned? ...its a remark of the judge! ... and mine is also a remark! I haven't questioned the verdict passed! you have a long way to understand the "legality and remarks"!... Court has observed so many verbal remarks so far on Modi, UPA, and rest! Unless they are in final judgement- it will remain just that Remark!...

if you have any doubts, Just send my reply to legal experts or to the honorable court, I shall defend myself! I am law afficiando myself!

The last time around, there wer eobservations made that "Judges can be bought.. Modi and Amit Shaha have bought the justice system... " you write a similar line, I will make you heard in corridors of law! I assure you!

And I trust my indian courts!

Jossey, if need be I am ready to sell tea also.. Mujhe mehnat karne mein sharam nahi! I wont beg/borrow/steal- if my karma needs me to do any work, here in this country- I will do it!..OK?

its people like you, who are high class , think these are all small jobs! This same attitude, drew Swamy to learn law and fight his own case! defamation case- against Ram Jethmalani! ... he is now a good laywer- without a degree!... when UPA stopped giving him, passes to Supreme court and harassed him, you know what he did- he filed for a pass as "CLERK" to his supreme court wife -Roxna Swamy... then they made sure he has to stand in queue for daily pass.. then SC itself said, since he is a security protectee, a monthly pass is issued to him in SC!... kya pata, ek din zaroorat pade toh, mein bhi Lawyer banoonga! without a degree... my country gives me freedom to do it!.. so if I need a pass, I may need to sell tea in SC too! vhe vhe vhe
