Gunfight in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 14 (IANS): A gunfight started Wednesday between the security forces and holed up guerrillas in Kashmir's Baramulla district.

"On specific information about the presence of militants in Sofi Hamam locality of Sopore town, security forces today (Wednesday) morning surrounded a house," a senior police officer told IANS here.

"On being challenged, the hiding militants opened fire on the security forces triggering an encounter which is now going on," the officer added.

Reports from the area said the security forces believe two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) guerrillas are holed up inside the house.
