BJP MPs spent crores of taxpayers' money at five star hotel: reports

New Delhi, Jan 12, Agencies: The Narendra Modi government's austerity polices have taken a hit after an RTI report claimed that many BJP MPs enjoyed their overstay at five-star hotels on tax-payers' money.

The RTI report showed that till November 15,2014, 92 MPs, since their election, several of them from the BJP, have been living at the Ashoka Hotel in Delhi, in spite of being allotted the government accommodation, said an IBN Live report.

The report further claimed that the hotel bills is likely to be in crores.

According to the rules, the MPs should move into the residences within eight days of the allotment.

However, the BJP MPs in question have denied overstaying at five-star hotels and rubbished the report saying its data was outdated.

The latest RTI revelation contradicts the Modi government's austerity policies. Last year, the Finance Ministry in order to cut down the unexpected expenditure by 10 percent announced a few austerity measures. The measures included orders to officials to avoid meetings at five-star hotels, restriction on ministers' first class air travel to abroad among others.

Although Modi's intentions are sincere and his dictat to BJP Ministers and other cadres is clear regarding Governance\sincerity at work\ not to be lazy\not to shoot their mouth which creates controversies etc etc and not to be corrupt... is falling on deaf ears of the many dumb in the government.
It is hindering Modi's way of thinking and acting. Very soon we may see Modi taking severe action through BJP H\C to reign in these wild and brainless bisons who think this is the God given opportunity to make merry and fill the bags as fast as they can.
If Modi is thinking 20 years of rule, these have no such faith in Modi and they think this is the only term hence the urgency to enjoy\splurge on Govt. account and
make hay when the BJP at the Center.
We have to wait and see what Modi is going to do to pull them back to the right path of "SERVING THE PEOPLE".
Congress and then UPA (with hands tied) have done well and Brought India out of many a troubles to hand over the Govt. to another Party on platter, who is in a way thankful for various work outs on development kept ready for their action. It is easier to rule now as the most difficult part of important governance has been looked after, by Congress\UPA.
If BJP still finds it difficult to develop then They are not fit to be a Government!!!???
All the best to Modi as he is now our PM and it is our duty to support him for the betterment of the Nation.

The BharatiyaJanata Party witnessed a major setback in Prime Minister NarendraModi's constituency where not a single BJP supported candidate could win the election of Varanasi Cantonment Board held on Sunday. Though the party had invested all its energy involving state president Laxmi Kant Vajpayee and other senior leaders in campaign, all seven candidates lost the battle.

The BJP camp was silent on this defeat just seven months after the grand victory of the party in LokSabha elections. The city president PradeepAgrahari, however, said that BJP succumbed to the money power used in the election, though did not pin point to any particular candidate.

I fully endorse what Mr.Vellano1,Mumbai has dealt in the first para of his comment. There are lot of like minds in this forum who have concern for the soceity/people.
Corruption has engulfed Indian soceity in the course of 60 years rule of Congress rule and it is very difficult to eradicate it totally. It requires commitment and time bound programme and procedures.People have installed the BJP govt headed by Dear Modiji with a great hope that he will usher in a new era of effective governance coupled with sincerity to the expectations of voters/people.We have satisfaction that RSS has taken the center stage in instalation of this govt and so it has a greater responsibility in carrying forward the message for implementation under Modiji's dyanamic rule.Like other party there are corrupts in BJP too and many ministers are corrupt especially those hailing from our state. Now Its Modiji's turn to tame these corrupts to make them know the ground reality. All those who looted the tax payers money by way of hotel bills, overstayed without any work at Raliway bhavan and others should be made accountable and recovered.People are watching keenly Modi admn and therefore it is imperative all concerned at all levels remain vigilent/responsible in discharging their duties. Here is a news from a leading web portal reproduced which need to be seen as'writting on the wall' by BJP leaders.
"New Delhi, January 12, 2015: In a major shock to the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all the party candidates were defeated in the cantonment board elections of Varanasi on Monday.

As per reports, independent candidates have emerged winners in all seven wards.

The polling took place on Sunday amid unprecedented security.

The cantonment board area comes under PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency.

In Lucknow cantonment board, considered to be a fortress of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP lost on all eight seats.

The setback has come at a time when the BJP is banking on Modi’s magic to register victory in Delhi Assembly polls."

Uneducated persons are joining in politics and making money in 10 years. Educated persons are working hard and earning nothing, taking bank loans and they are cheated by the taxation systems in our country. Some educated persons are preferring naxals.. We are thinking that india is a democratic country but not. Its like a short term investment for politician (5years). He will invest at the time of election and he will take it back in 5 years. All these people grows because of the inefficient law of our land and any person can survive in India after committing any crime. Only money has to pump in different political parties and government officials. The most important factor is that we have no option to one robber out of 3or 4.. Party like AAP (ready for RTI) should come forward to take the challenge otherwise our country will be go under the terrorists...

The foolish people voted Modi in the name of development and ache din . But Modi government failed in all respect to fulfill it commitments . Instead of concentrating the work Modi and his government is full time concentrating the elections. Sept -Oct Maharashtra and Hariyana, Nov- Dec Jammu Kashmir and Jharkhand and now New Delhi .So how you can expect from government . Most of the time Modi Government is involved in useless issues such as ghar wapasi etc. This is government failed to fulfill the aspirations of poor people.

In a democracy, people are to be blamed for choosing bad leaders.
No standard has been set for our leaders. people are equally corrupt in their thinking and promoting wrong leaders.
Arvind Kejriwal may be a good leader in the making and is having Gandhian qualities, but is not time tested. He needs to remain in politics for long and should be consistent. But he doesn't get much of corporates funding. Some other non corrupt and communal leaders are not committed to their calling.

All these MPs should be made to pay from their pocket! and Star hotels stay should be made from "ONLY IF you pay from your own pocket" rule!.. also cut down on their free telephone/electricity/water bonanzas.. reduce the AIR INDIA ticket.. it is already a sick company!.. make them travel in train if it IS NOT VERY IMPORTANT TRAVEL to DELIVER DUTIES in TIMELY MANNER! Study tours abroad should be curbed, put Travel freeze for a year! Make those canteens expensive inside parliament!... THis is not done, they are enjoying from tax payer's money!.. and get paid handsomely!... if they think they are getting paid less, let them find a private job!... this is happening for years now!

Specially our ex foreing ministers SMKRishna and Shashi Taroor always stayed in Ashoka- nobody knows who used to pay for their suite charges!... Even in Bengaluru RAMYA when she was new to Karnataka film industry she used to flaunt her connection with SM krishna and used to stay in TAJ WESTEND!... Shashi taroor inspite of having his own house in Lodhi estate, stayed in hotel leela, where his wife was murdered- she stayed in two rooms - all along, which creates much of suspicion!

And also kick out those are overstaying their welcome in offical bungalows..! EVen HONEST KEJRIWAL is adamant to vacate his bungalows! what is Sheila dixit? why is she allotted a government home for stay? why Gandhis are never vacating 10, janpath?
