Two dead, four injured in gas leak in South Korea

Seo Jan 12 (IANS): At least two people were killed and four others injured Monday when nitrogen gas leaked at a manufacturing plant of LG Display, the world's largest LCD panel maker, in South Korea.

The nitrogen gas leak occurred at about 12.50 p.m. at a display panel plant located in Paju, some 40 km northwest of capital Seoul, Xinhua reported.

The gas valve was opened for an undetermined reason while the workers of LG Display's contract companies were checking facilities, leading to the death of two people and injuring four others.

Among those wounded, one worker is in critical condition, raising possibilities that the toll would rise.

In December last year, nitrogen gas got leaked at a construction site of a new nuclear reactor being built in Ulsan, the country's southeastern port city, leaving three people dead.
