Festival of contemporary dance comes to Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS): The national capital will be hosting a week-long festival beginning Jan 11 that would showcase the various forms of contemporary dance, the organisers said Saturday.

The third edition of "IGNITE! Festival of Contemporary Dance" will bring together an array of Indian and international contemporary dance artistes.

Choreographer Terence Lewis's "Scrambled Eggs" would be opening the festival by narrating eight different tales which touch upon the complexities of life and relationships. The performance will fuse theatre and dance.

"We have focused a lot on collaborations by inviting cross cultural exchanges. We also looked at established as well as emerging artists because we feel that there is a lot to be gained from this exchange," Mandeep Raikhy, festival director, said in a statement.

The festival would also be hosting a three-day conference "Joining the Dots: Points of Shift, Pause, Discontinuity and Rupture" that will map the trajectories of dance across form, genre and geography.
