Modi promises 24-hour power in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday promised 24-hour power supply in Delhi, making the city free of generators.

Addressing a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally at the Ramlila Maidan here in the run- up to the assembly polls, Modi said he would usher in competition among discoms by offering consumers the option of choosing their utility.

Drawing a parallel with the telecom sector, Modi pointed out that competition would be triggered if people get to choose their discom.

Modi said the competition would also bring down tariffs, as had happened in the telecom sector.
