New York, Jan 6 (IANS/EFE): An employee of Morgan Stanley stole information of 900 clients, including their names and account numbers, and posted them on the internet for a short while, according to the global financial services company.
The employee, whose identity has not been revealed, has been fired, said a statement released on Morgan Stanley's website Monday.
The company said there was no evidence of any economic loss to any client, adding that although part of the information had been posted briefly on the internet, it was subsequently removed by the company.
"Overall, partial account information of up to 10 percent of all wealth management clients was stolen. The data stolen does not include account passwords or social security numbers," said the statement.
Morgan Stanley is already working with the appropriate authorities to conduct and conclude a thorough investigation of the incident, the note added.
