Rajasthan to introduce self-attestation of documents Jan 1


Jaipur, Dec 31 (IANS): The Rajasthan government will introduce self-attestation of documents Jan 1.

"The state government has directed all officers to act in accordance with the revised mechanism in relation to attestation of documents and submission of affidavits with effect from Thursday (Jan 1)," an official statement issued here Wednesday said.

The new system would make life easier for students and job seekers who had to go to a gazetted officer or a notary for attestation.

According to the revised mechanism, the applicants, while submitting documents for admission to educational institutions, for seeking services in government departments, local bodies, panchayati raj institutions, boards, corporations, public sector undertakings, institutions and for seeking employment in government of Rajasthan, local bodies, panchayati raj institutions, boards, corporations, public sector undertakings and institutions shall be permitted to submit self-attested copies of documents that are required to be attached or appended to the original applications.

Original certificates and documents shall be called only from finally admitted candidates for verification.

Similarly, admission authorities shall also ensure that the application forms for admission to educational institutions are revised accordingly before commencing the procedure for admission during the academic session 2015-2016.

Directions have also been issued in regard to submission of affidavits. No government departments, local bodies, panchayati raj institutions, boards, corporations, public sector undertakings, institutions shall ask for affidavits from the applicants seeking admission in educational institutions or services under various government schemes and programmes, employment except for those cases where affidavits are required as per statutory provision of existing law.

All government departments, local bodies, panchayati raj institutions, boards, corporations, public sector undertakings or institutions shall accept self-declaration in place of affidavit from the applicants.

Standard format for self-declaration shall suitably be included in various application forms being used in various organizations. A photograph of the person making the declaration, shall necessarily be affixed or pasted on the declaration itself.

Action would be taken against people filing wrong declaration and they will be punished under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the punishment will include imprisonment and a fine, or both.
