Udupi Dec 12:
Medical Education Minister and Udupi District in-charge V.S. Acharya was admitted to Kasturba Hospital here on Monday after he swooned out of exhaustion at Koppa in Chikmagalur district. The Minister's condition is said to be stable now.

Mr. Acharya was attending a programme at the Ayurveda College, and then the inauguration of works of the Koppa Town Panchayat. Later, Dr. Acharya paid a courtesy visit to the former Minister H.G. Govinda Gowda's house at Koppa where he felt giddy and collapsed. He was immediately rushed to the Kasturba Hospital at Manipal.

Pro-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) H.S. Ballal said that cardiologists had done all the tests on him.

The results of all the tests were negative. His blood sugar count was a little high. The doctors wanted to keep him under observation till his blood sugar level reached the normal count, he said. Doctors had attributed his condition to exhaustion. "He is stable, conscious and talking," Dr. Ballal said.

The Minister had been keeping a tight schedule. He walked for 5 km at the Hindu Samajotsava procession in Udupi on Sunday resulting in exhaustion. A press release issued by the Department of Information here on Monday said that all programmes of Dr. Acharya had been cancelled for the next four days.
