Mangalore, Dec 11: The death anniversary of Fr Alexander Dubois, locally known as 'Abbe Dubois' in English, 'Frad Saib' in Konkani and 'Kullerda Ajjer' in Tulu and who founded the founder of the Holy Cross Church in Kulshekar, was observed in the evening on Monday December 11.

A procession was taken out at 5.30 pm followed by Eucharistic celebrations at 6.30 pm. Udupi's Episcopal vicar Fr Valerian D'Souza and Shaktinagar parish priest Fr Herald Pereira delivered homilies.

Though Fr Alexander Duba was originally from France, he came to the city and rendered his services at Milagres Church here from 1865 to 1877. He laid the foundation for Kulshekar Church on September 14, 1873.

A priest who had a soft corner for underprivileged sections of the society, Fr Dubois left for his heavenly abode on December 11, 1877.

His grave near the Kulshekar church is visited by a large number of people to offer prayers and seek his intecession for needs and intentions.
