Puttur, Dec 11: The Kadaba police have arrested one person for illegal possession of locally-made gun at Balya near Kadaba here on Saturday December 9 night.

The arrested has been identified as Addu alias Abdulla (52), son of Umarabba of Janata Colony near Hosamajalu of Koukradi near Nelyadi.  However, his accomplice Jayaram Gowda has managed to escape and is still at large.

Both Addu and Jayaram were on their way to Kadaba from Nelyadi on M 80 moped.  They had a locally-made gun in their possession along with live cartridge.  But Kadaba police led by SI Nandakumar had already received a tip-off in this regard.  Accordingly they managed to stop them and seize the illegal possessions along with their vehicle.  Police also arrested Addu.  But Jayram Gowda managed to escape.  Addu was later produced before the court.

The initial police enquiry has revealed that Jayram Gowda had purchased the gun from a person in Shiradi sometime ago.  On Saturday he was trying to sell it to a person in Kadaba with the help of Addu.  But the police intercepted the vehicle at Balya and arrested Addu.

Kadaba police have registered the case.
