Mangalore, Dec 10: The all-India Home Guards Day was celebrated here on Saturday December 9.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP (Western Range) H S Sathyanarayana Rao elaborated on the services rendered by Home Guards and said that a proposal to make use of Home Guards in easing traffic in Bangalore was in the pipeline.
Home Guards commandant Dr Shivprasad Rai read out a report on the activities of the unit. There was a ceremonial parade, a mock squad drill with arms and mock rescue demonstrations by the Home Guards.
Superintendent of Police B Dayananda was present.
